Hey everyone & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! 🎄🎁
I know it’s been quite a while, but I just wanted to share something with you guys today.
I’ve been doing a lot of self reflecting these past few weeks, so that’s why I’ve been a bit distant from blogging, but I’m back and feeling very empowered!
I just first want to say that if your spirit is low or you’re feeling depressed, sad, uptight, anything of that sort I’m going to need you to shake that spirit off!!!!!Breathe, stretch, shake & let that thing GO! 😁 because ‘Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la la.
Christmas is my favorite holiday and I just love to share this holiday spirit I have with everyone who needs it.
STORY TIME!!!! Woot woot
On December 22, 2018, I traveled around Savannah GA with my church Kingdom Life Ministries, and we went to about 5-10 homeless shelters to just be a blessing to God’s people.
I am apart of the worship team and pastor also had us worship and just sing God’s glory down from the heavens while we were out, and it was just an emotional and very humbling experience. We were all reminded of how fortunate we are, and how we just need to be thankful for the little things that God has blessed us with.
One of the guys who was living in the homeless camps blessed our souls. After we were done singing, he got up and started to sing his heart out to the Lord, and it made all of us very emotional. I literally get chills down my body everytime I think about it because it was just so touching. “It could have been the other way.” Those were his words. Very empowering and encouraging. I had video taped a small snippet of him singing and it’s right underneath this paragraph.
So can I ask a question? Why is it that the less fortunate can be so thankful, grateful and full of joy for the little to nothing that they have, but we can’t? Why is it that they can still have a heart of praise for the Lord and have the uplifting spirit to worship CHRIST but we can’t? The man who was singing did not allow his situation nor his circumstances to get in the way of praising God and that blessed my soul.
We are ALL God’s children and I believe God needs and wants us all to have that same joyful, thankful, happy and encouraged spirit the man singing had.
Can I be transparent here?
I was dreading the holiday season coming since September of this year. I didn’t want it to come because I knew I wasn’t going to be with my family/friends and just with people who are familiar with me. I was saying things like, “oh I’m going to be so sad Christmas Day.” “I don’t want it to come.” “I’m just going to sit in my room and not go anywhere.” “I don’t want to be around anyone else’s family.”
YUP! That’s what I was saying, not knowing that I was just speaking nothing but the enemy over my feelings and thoughts. I was allowing him to have his way with those thoughts BUT GOD. God is just so good!!! I’m just so glad I was able to go minister through song to the less fortunate because I had also received a word from the Lord while doing it. The man who started to sing really ministered to my heart, and I truly needed it during this time. “The Lord woke me up this morning, and put food on my table but it could’ve been the other way!!”
Then God gave me a revelation.
CHRISTmas is about CHRIST and just doing what the Lord wants us to do. Yes it’s nice to be around family, opening up gifts, and eating good food. But what about Christ? What about his birth? What about him??? It is because of Christ that we were even set free!!!
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 NIV”
I had lost focus of the meaning of Christmas just that quick, but I’m grateful for God and his grace to free me from my own thoughts and feelings. By his grace, I am free!!
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10 NIV”
So I just want to remind you all to just be thankful for what you have and who you have; celebrate our Lord and saviors life because this is what’s it’s all about. He’s been so good to us!!! We could have been dead and gone, homeless, and just without, but we aren’t! So please just be grateful. Be happy, and usher yourself into God’s joyful spirit because that’s what he wants. Give back to the ones who need it and most of all LOVE and be a blessing. If you’re in a situation like myself where you can’t be with your loved ones during this time please reach out to your church family, coworkers anyone and enjoy your time with them; no one should be alone.
