F o r g i v e & Let go.

Have you ever been in a position where you had to forgive someone even when you just didn’t feel like they deserved your forgiveness? Or were you ever afraid to forgive because you thought you’d be taken advantage of after the fact?

I’ve learned that no matter what a person has done to me, forgiveness is necessary. I need to forgive them and also let the situation go.

Why?

Because holding on to the damage they caused in my life and my heart was stripping me of my peace and it also was distorting my view of others around me.

Peace is everything.

Anything that causes you to lose your peace isn’t worth holding on to. – Terran Robinson

The Bible speaks about forgiveness a great deal of times but one of my favorite scriptures that capture the importance of forgiveness is Colossians 3:13.

“Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.” (‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ERV)

If God can forgive us for any and everything we’ve done, we can forgive our peers, family members, friends, and spouses as well.

I also mentioned that holding on to the damage that one caused me was distorting my view of others around me.

That wasn’t a good thing either because I missed out on some great opportunities to just connect with unique people. I placed those people in a box and if they spoke, acted, or even looked like they would hurt me in a way that I was hurt before I wouldn’t even further or long to have any connections with them.

Forgiving is Important YES! BUT letting go of that situation follows right after it.

“Just because one person hurt you, doesn’t mean everyone is going to hurt you.” – Terran Robinson

“What’s meant to hurt and destroy you, is sometimes the very thing that pushes you to be a better you” -Terran Robinson

SELF REFLECTION TIME.

Just think of all the poor, unacceptable, careless, imperfect, hurtful decisions you’ve made in your life. Think about the people you’ve hurt and distressed.

Now look at who you are today, look at where you stand today, look at the value of your life. Look at how blessed and highly favored you are today.

Do you think you deserve to be where you’re at right now? I know I don’t. But God, our God, is a forgiving God. It amazes me to know that I serve a God who not only forgives but also lets go of our sins.

“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.” (‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭25‬ NIV)I

&

“For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭8‬:‭12‬ NIV)

If God can do such acts for us, we can and should desire to do the same not for others sakes, but for our own.

I know with me, when I find myself pondering on the hurtful situations I’ve been through, I begin to get stressed out, angry and just full of so many negative emotions.

It’s honestly just a choice we have to make to be free. I don’t know about you, but I choose to be free from hurt, pain, stress and worry.

Forgiving isn’t easy, but it’s necessary.

Letting go isn’t easy, but it’s necessary.

Apologizing isn’t easy, but it’s necessary.

Admitting faults isn’t easy, but it’s necessary.

Get out of your comfort zone!!!

Whatever steps you need to take to acquire your peace, I challenge you to do it today.

  1. I am so proud of you, awesome job and so true. Forgiving a person is not for that individual who caused the hurt but for the person who was offended, so that they may have peace within as well as letting go of that issue. ❤️❤️
